Brian has spent his career at the intersection of institutional finance and personal wealth. Over the years, he has moved from public accounting and investment banking to managing family-office capital, navigating real estate and distressed-credit investments, and ultimately advising private wealth clients. He is also a financial educator, speaker, and co-author of Retire Like a Shark with Kevin Harrington.

Brian began his career with Deloitte & Touche before moving into investment banking at ING Barings, where he worked with companies on capital raising and complex financial transactions. He later managed investments for a private family office and worked in real estate and distressed credit before transitioning to private wealth management.

That breadth of experience shapes the way Brian advises clients today. Rather than viewing the investment portfolio in isolation, he helps successful families, business owners, executives, and retirees coordinate investment strategy with tax planning, retirement income, estate considerations, risk management, debt, and liquidity.

Brian’s approach is also informed by what he calls the Spectrum of Liquidity; a framework he developed to help bridge the gap between traditional individual investing and the broader way institutions and sophisticated investors think about allocating capital. His goal is to help clients better understand the tradeoffs among liquidity, risk, income, growth, and long-term opportunity.

Brian earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied accounting and played lacrosse, and a master’s degree in real estate from the University of Denver. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Public Accountant (non-practicing).

A fourth-generation Denver native, Brian lives in Greenwood Village with his wife, Amy, and their children, Colby and Josie. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, golf, traveling, live music, and spending time with his family.
